Family Style

Family Style Meal is one where courses are brought out to the guest tables to serve themselves. It is a very informal way of service and emulates the way of having a meal with family and friends at home. It is however, inherent with some problems, regarding Hot Food coming out and sitting there getting cold – exactly as it does at home. We have special dishes imported from England which present the hot food well and keep it warm for some time, but….when it is time to eat, it is time to eat! We will help with the planning and timing to ensure that all food is served at optimum temperature in pre-heated dishes. After that, it is totally up to you.

How many courses would you like?  The picture that we have in our head, is that each course comes out and is served by guests themselves at the table. Whether Salad, Soup, Main Course or Dessert, each course comes out and served in order – similar actually to a Plate Course Meal. However, it can be that the Salad Course is “skipped” and served with the Main Meal, which does save time, but it is your choice. How do you envision it?? That is the most important……

All menus for family style meals will be custom designed to your tastes and we are always available to assist you with your choices. Regardless of the number of courses you decide upon, we can suggest various ideas to complement each course.

As a guideline, allow at least 30 – 45 minutes per course, so you can decide exactly how long a meal will take to serve.  A three-course meal will take about an hour and a half; four- course meal about two hours to two and a half hours.  We will never rush your guests, and we will pace ourselves according to the eating speed and direction that you give us.
